I've made it half way through my Krav Maga challenge guys! I can see Del Taco and Dr. Pepper at the finish line!
I'm going to start by saying warm ups in these classes make me want to throw up every. single. time. An example of what we do during a 15 minute warm up is: line up along the room- sprint to the other side- lunges back- bear crawls to the other side- jumping forward all the way back. For the whole 15 minutes. No breaks. ugh.
Today we had a different instructor than usual who totally singled me out multiple times because I am "small." It started out with a comment when we were learning to kick. She asked me what I was thinking about and to be completely honest, I was just thinking about how many more kicks I had to do until it was my partners turn.
When I punch or kick a bag, I'm not imagining some big scary guy attacking me, I just see the bag. Apparently, this is wrong.
"Imagine it's your ex husband!!" Someone screamed from the opposite side of the room. Um... I haven't been divorced and I don't have an ex boyfriend that I'd like to kick in the gut. Sorry.
My instructor waited for my response and when I said my typical, "I don't know." She said, "what is it you're thinking about? Pilates?" Um. No. She then said, "even a small person like her can knock out a huge man like him (pointing to the very large man in our class) if they execute it correctly and put some anger behind it.
The instructor made a few more comments about me being small which I found pretty annoying but ignored.
I am a lot of things. I can be happy, quirky, silly, shy, and really sad. But I'm very rarely an angry person. After all her "small" comments, I kicked and elbowed and punched as hard as I could. She noticed my improvement by the end of the night but I didn't get better by being angry. Do we have to be thinking of men or people we hate when we learn how to defend ourselves? Or can we just learn the fundamentals and pray we don't have to execute them?
After every class I'm red in the face but after this one I was also close to bleeding. Maybe I also need to wrap my wrists and wear elbow pads. Haha.
And here are a few of my Paleo meals from the last couple of days:
And here is a sneak peak at a baby shower suite that's in the works:
