Why is it that some people just stare at you straight faced, eyes gleaming when all you have done is smile and wave at them as you drive by them in your own neighborhood? Is everyone too cool to be a friendly neighbor these days? I am constantly smiling and waving as I drive by the woman pushing her stroller in the mornings, the man walking his dogs in the afternoon, and the elderly woman and her nurse taking a stroll every evening. If I happen to be outside my house instead of driving, I actually say "hello" and "how are you?" Is this now taboo?
